Why I Will Jump Off The Cliff

I am mortally afraid of heights.

If we ever meet up at an amusement park, I will be the person holding the bags watching as friends and loved ones climb into roller coaster seats. The sight of rollercoasters rolling along at top speeds hundreds of feet  high in the air snuff the air out of my system. Yet, the screams and squeals fascinate me.

I envy those who live for those exhilarating moments. I wonder whether there is some secret elixir or magic formula that gets people excited about parachuting off a plane or walking a tightrope across the Niagara Falls. I arrived at the conclusion that it is all about living in the moment, taking risks and having a love for adventure.

This thing called writing is my cliff

Via Giphy

Never in a million years would I see myself putting pen to paper. I had this belief from my teenage years that I had to swallow a dictionary, be a wordsmith or a great orator to write a literary piece. Now that I am at the edge, I feel my knees buckling. Why?

  • I feel challenged to look deep inside myself.
  • Trust in myself.
  • Believe in my abilities and capabilities.
  • I have everything that I need inside of me.

This journey is not for the faint-hearted. It is a test of strength and fortitude. I jump off this cliff unaware of the future. Whatever awaits me, I will find the strength to face it head-on knowing, in the process, it will make me stronger.

How about you? What is your cliff?
