- Dame Mary Eugenia Charles, DBE was a powerhouse in politics on the island of Dominica and was elected as Prime Minister from 1980 to 1995;
- She was the first woman lawyer in Dominica and its only female Prime Minister. (That could change);
- Dame Charles also holds the distinction, as was the world’s third longest-serving female Prime Minister, behind Sirimavo Bandaranaike of Sri Lanka and Indira Gandhi of India;
I admire Dame Mary Eugenia Charles because she reminds me of…
Yes. The Right Honourable, The Baroness Margaret Thatcher, LG OM DStJ PC FRS HonFRSC.
Dame Mary Eugenia Charles has been remembered as “The Iron Lady” for her tough stances and conservative opinions.
She was a force to be reckoned with for sure. That’s why I admire her.
