From The HomeFront
I am on my second notebook. I told you it’s better for me to write by hand because my thoughts flow better. This is not for the faint of heart though. The consequences…
After The Storm?
Marco wakes up in a hospital in Phoenix Arizona. Arizona has been known for…
It’s always been scorching in Arizona. However, come fall it’s…
Okay, I followed that rabbit 😂😂😂😂
Yes, so he is in Phoenix, Arizona for a week in a medically induced coma. He suffered injuries to his leg with a gunshot wound. His Mama has been close by praying for his recovery. The moment he opens his eyes two Federal Agents enter the room and introduce themselves. He is in no state to talk with them.
Before he returns to Michigan, he gives video taped depositions with a local attorney and his Mama present. He is now aware that he was rescued by a SWAT team. The whole thing is too much.
According To My Research
Life after a horrific event or trauma can cause a cavalcade of emotions. We are looking at the entire spectrum inclusive of post traumatic stress disorder. It is crucial to let persons who have gone through trauma to be given time, space, support, patience and buckets of love. During my time at a rape crisis center I saw firsthand how a traumatic event could freeze a life in time. Everything from that moment forward is guided by that experience.

There’s no time limit on healing from trauma. So I am peeved when folks say that people need to get over an event by a certain timeframe.
I Planted A Seed
This idea popped up in my mind. While I wrote about Marco’s recovery, I made him FaceTime his daughter, Clarissa. She was at Scarlett’s house while his Mama stayed with him in Arizona.
When Clarissa left the screen to get her coloring pages…
Yes, I let Marco and Scarlett hold a gaze. A long one too! It felt like something to ratchet up the pace of the story. This is certainly not going to be happily ever after.
The title is, Loving Abbie but this route felt right at this point.
The Long Road
Marco stayed in Arizona for a month until he was cleared for travel. Once he got home, it was like a rollercoaster. Nothing seemed the same. He cannot recognize himself, his Mama and his daughter. It was rough.
Abbie shows up to check up on him. Marco cannot stand being in the same room with her. He tells her to…
To think he almost lost his way with that woman.
Yeah, not a…
But then… Let’s see what I’m up to next time.
